Leave The Lights On
For 3 or 4 months after we returned from our February cruise along the Norwegian coast to see the Northern Lights I was searching, without much success, for a piece of music that would help me to tell the story of our journey in a video. I enjoy doing my Travel Journal and taking good pictures because they help to tell the story of our trip. But when you can combine the words and the pictures with a music track and put them all together into a video, you can express the experience, feeling and emotion of the journey in a way that just words and pictures alone can not do.
One of my buddies, Steve, from Panera, where I go for coffee most mornings, is a retired school teacher who enjoys writing books, playing his guitar and writing songs. He likes to follow my travel blog and one day last spring I was telling him about my frustration about not being able to find a music track for my Northern Lights video. I asked him if he would be interested in writing a song that would help me tell the story in a video. After he thought about it for 1 or 2 seconds, he said – Absolutely! So, using just my travel journal and my pictures he wrote and recorded a wonderful song. As soon as I heard the song for the 1st time, I knew it was a winer and immediately began to piece together the different media I would use in the video. The result of our collaboration is called “Leave The Lights On When You Go”.
A special thanks to Steve, because without his talented input I don’t think I would have been able to finish the video story I wanted to tell..
